I named my cat after Wilma Rudolph, though Wilma the Cat is a long-haired blond. My Wilma is 2 1/2 years old, and also a talker--she mostly talks when she wants to be played with. She still has this outlook of "this life thing is very cool", which is fun. Unlike your Wilma she very much likes to be picked up, and that is, in fact, her favorite way of cuddling. I have an older cat, Tuck (aka Mr. Tuck) who is a tuxedo cat, and was rescued after surviving on his own at a state park, supposedly for about a year.
